My home has been filled with butterflies for the past month.
We made origami butterflies as part of j’s birthday party favors.
And before that, I made “dragon” origami, the first pattern in the book, to practice. It’s called dragon but it really looks like a swan to me. Perhaps I made it wrong?
It was actually my mother-in-law and husband who made most of the butterflies: I tried a few times but got lost on the turn, each time. I watched this video for help, but to no avail. Of course, this video is also what solved it for Grandma and M.
It helps to think about what you are trying to achieve: a body, a wing, the back. The concept defines the piece, the part, the next step.
They are a nice change from flowers, and last longer, too. They make the house feel ephemeral, and fun, in a way it doesn’t, usually. I wonder how long these butterflies will stick around?
