I remember when my son was first born, the intensity with which I experienced time slowing down. You have to slow it down, to be able to look closely enough to actually be able to get to know them, understand even a fraction of the changes that are happening constantly there. And what a great mindfulness practice.
One I realized I had gotten a little out of the habit of, just recently. Saturday, I signed, sealed, and posted our first preschool application, in which I noted that J couldn’t yet draw a circle (yes, this is the kind of thing preschools in San Francisco want to know, apparently). And then just yesterday, there they were: big sweeping ellipses.
I’m going back to my meditation circle tomorrow (a New Year’s Resolution). Just in time, I think.
