I have always loved clothes. There, I said it. From the feel of different fabrics, to dreaming of possible color combinations, to imagining how I’d recreate this look or that, clothes have always been a big part of my life. I’ve been happiest at jobs when I’ve remembered to check out what people where wearing when I interviewed/visited-- and of course, when it’s been fun stuff that they were wearing.

So I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with staying home. When I was home just after J was born, it was naturally, a lot of sweats and M’s t shirts and jersey skirts.

I have to say though, trying to dress with comfort as a #5 priority, and "business"or "professional"not a priority at all is really a shift. Comfort plus cute, and not cutes-y, is a surprising challenge.  I want to look credible for J's teacher, or a community organizer I'm interviewing, but not over-dressed for a stop at the gym, or worried about falling  as I run around the playground.

I’ve really been enjoying this blog for inspiration, and I am in love with the following combination:

1. Non-sweatpant sweatpants (these for instance are slim cut and have a chunky zipper):

2. Boxy t-shirt (vs. a long tunic. Looks less sloppy and forces me to go to the gym and not eat too much bread) like this:

3. Gladiator style technical sandals (stylish but functional). I've always loved these and have a few options every day, which is great... something like this:

On me (bad picture for the outfit, but I love how relaxed I feel just looking at this) :

I feel very cool-girl-on-a-day-off, but also comfortable and flexible. Of course, I have no idea what I’ll wear in winter.
